BaD 2006-2008

Posted on 02/20/2018 at 04:57 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I liked the Wii, but I sitll hate that name.  A year after the Wii came out, I got a 360 and that ended up being my favorite console of that generation.

My brothers showed me Yakuza 0 and all I did was play Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone in the arcade and talk with the cute arcade lady.  Seems like an OK game to me if that's all I had to do. :)

Elite Beat Agents was a neat game.  I got it on sale at Wal Mart for 15 bucks.

One of the reasons why I didin't like Twilight Princess at first was because of the muddy brown smeary graphics.  But once I played the HD remake on Wii U, I liked it a LOT better.  Princess Zelda is awesome in that game, too.

I didn't mind the touch controls in the DS Zelda games, but I can see why others wouldn't like it and I do prefer more traditional controls, too.

I didn't get into Rock Band until LEGO Rock Band came out.  That was such a popular series.  It didin't seem like it would be a fad but I guess it was.

I hope you get a chance to play Okami someday.  That was my Game of the Year in 2006.

Now be nice to that cute arcade lady, OK?

BaD #13: Quiz & Dragons

While the questions were dated, when I played this on the Capcom collections, I still found it surprisingly fun.  Or at least more fun than I thought it would be.  I also like the Capcom character designs in it.

BaD #18: Nintendo Switch Data Transfer Impracticality

Posted on 02/20/2018 at 04:47 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah one of Nintendo's weakest points is their online and data transfer functionality.  I really do love the Switch, but this is one reason why I sitll find myself playing my PS4 a little more right now.

Personally I think Kirby's Air Ride was better than Mario Kart: Double Dash.

Time Warped 1980 - Skiing

Many of Activision's early games were great.  Even I had River Raid on the 5200.  The Activision Anthology was one of the best classic game compilations ever.  It even rivaled the PSOne Namco Museums!

Next time you fire up Activision Anthology, try playing my favorite 2600 game: Pressure Cooker.  But make sure to read the instructions first.  It's actually surprisingly complex for a 2600 game.  But once you know what you're doing, it's an amazing little game.

BaD #17: Captain N's Favorite 3DS Games of 2017

Samus Returns was my favorite 3DS game of 2017.

Time Warped 1980 - Crazy Balloon

Posted on 02/17/2018 at 12:43 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I've never seen Crazy Balloon in arcades ever either.  The game kind of reminds me of a PSOne game also based on a Japanese game show called Irritating Stick.  Have you seen the arcade flyer for Crazy Balloon?  It's, well, crazy!

BaD #12: Mega Twins

Posted on 02/17/2018 at 12:49 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Mega Twins was a game I had never heard of until I played it on the Capcom collections.  Which is unusual because I'm pretty well versed in all things Capcom.  I think Mega Twins was on the Genesis, too.  And it's quite possible that Akira Toriyama did the artwork.  I think he did the art for other video games around that time, like Buster Bros. and Go! Go! Ackman!

BaD 2005

My problem with Minish Cap is that it felt too short.  I beat it in a weekend.  Did you know Capcom made it?  My favorite Zelda game is Link's Awakening.  Have you ever played that one?

WarioWare Touched was all right, but my favorite DS WarioWare game came out a few years later.  It was called WarioWare D.I.Y., and the game used a Mario Paint format to let you make your own micro games!  I actually won a contest and had my game featured by Nintendo, and that's why it was my Game of the Year in 2010.

Psychonauts was my Game of the Year in 2005.

Kirby: Canvas Curse is actually one of my least favorite Kirby games.  And that's one that everyone else seems to rave over.

Time Warped 1980 - Balloon Bomber

Posted on 02/17/2018 at 12:36 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I have never seen Balloon Bomber in an arcade.  Back then or recently.

I've only played it on the Taito Legends collections.  I do like how the derpy music goes along with the bombs swaying back and forth on the balloons.  Do-do, doo doo, do-do, doo doo...

On the PSP version of Taito Legends, there is an updated version of Balloon Bomber and the background graphics do make it look like it has a WW1 theme.
