Machine Memories: Mattel Electronics Baseball

Latest Baseball game I've played was Super Mega Baseball 2. It was pretty simple but it's certainly more than a one-button press to hit the ball. Actually it had a quite complex combo of stick movement and button press so you can swing the bat in a lot of different ways.

Tell me about it.

I tried Ultima III on NES once and couldn't get into it. I should give it another shot.

Machine Memories: Apple IIc

I remember looking in to the computer room in High School and deciding that it wasn't for me. It seemed like a math/science thing, and I was into writing and the arts. So I never played Oregon Trail and such at school.

My friend who I game with, used to be all about the PC but now has an Apple and never wants to go back.

Games were so much more numerous on PC than Apple.

The NES seems to be the first system to really be an obsession with kids. With me in 1980, it wasn't just about Atari, but all the other systems to. It was mostly about the arcades, now I think of it. Maybe it was the better graphics and longer game play that NES games offered that led to the NES being so beloved.

For some reason, my friend and I were always trying to get into everything. We had PCs, Genesis and NES in '93, and we were curious about previous systems like the Sega Master System. We'd always get stuff a few years after it came out when they were on sale or part of flea market finds.

The IIc was marketed as portable and easy to use for those unfamiliar with computers. It was less expandable than the other II series machines and had a slightly less powerful processor.

Vintage computers would be a fun thing to get into.

Machine Memories: ColecoVision

SanAndreas just pointed me to the Colecovision Flashback Collection on Steam. I used to have the Colecovision Flashback deck that came out just before Toys R Us closed up. I imagine these are the games from that deck. There are a lot of them.

One thing I'd like to explore is the Atari decks/computers after the 2600. You remind me that maybe I should look for a 7800. I've never owned that one.

Oh cool! There is the Colecovision Flashback on Steam!
