Hey Ya'll

Posted on 03/06/2013 at 09:05 AM | Filed Under Blogs

Good to have you, one of my best friends in college was on the track team, and he actually gave my friends and I some good pointers on a more efficient way to run one day; a lot of it, I'd heard playing football in middle school, but I hadn't been applying it since, so it was cool to learn.

I don't like sports and strategy too much either, but ... I also don't tend to like FPS and RPG. lol Like you, I'll play them, but they're not my favorite, I'm mostly a platformer/action/adventure/ guy; I also enjoy racing and fighting games.

I'm not too competitive, playing single-player usually, but you gotta love when you give someone the beatdown in Smash Bros., and that's part of why I like N64 and Gamecube a lot as well. Again, good to see more from 1up here, look forward to your blogs.

What Do You Do For a Living?

I'm currently a Freelance Production Assistant/Warehouse Guy for Invodo, a company that creates video content for the web (if you watched a video from Autozone, Toys R Us etc. on their website explaining one of their products, chances are we might have made it).

I'm trying to find other jobs since it's been slow, I actually applied for a freelance job for Discovery Channel in Dallas yesterday when one of my higher-ups posted it to Facebook, but being that the shoot was today, and I had to make a StaffMeUp profile last night to apply, looks like I didn't get it (and on top of that had trouble with an invoice I forgot to send Invodo, then had to send thrice... arrrgh!).

Looks like today is jobs Wednesday, what with me already planning on mentioning my job in my blog today before seeing this, smartcelt telling everyone what he does, and you posting this; I have the same approach to my job as you do, I love it, and everyone I work with, but it can become a grind (thought atm, my problem is it's going way too slow, I need more hours).

I have considered going back and getting my Master's, possibly an MBA, but I'm waiting to see how this job goes first.

My mobile gaming life.

Sounds like a sweet gig; I didn't work for Ronald, but my first job in high school was at Boston Market, so I'm familiarized with "time to lean, time to clean." Of course, I was only there three months, then my three years at Outback Steakhouse, the mantra from management was "run this food you $%%&^, or I will personally (!@%$# straight up your ass!"

Good times. Not sure why I censored "shove this banana sandwich" and left "up your ass" in there, but good times.

At my current job, either we're getting something prepped for the next shot, or we're making as little noise as possible when rolling sound (I'm a Production Assistant for a company that makes web content), so I don't have downtime really, unless I'm in the warehouse; in which case, I'll probably do like you and bring a DS in between shipment arrivals.

How'd you get to become a mobile X-Ray guy, what college and all that? Sounds like your schooling must have been intense, at least compared to my lazy ass and my BA degree haha. Very cool post, little gaming, little reality, I like it.

Rainbow Poll: For or Against?

I would actually be fascinated to see a documentary on porn, as long as it focused more on the people and what motivates them to be in the industry than porn itself; by that I mean I'd prefer it just be interviews with the performers, directors, editors, etc., and not an excuse to show me something I can find online immediately, even by accident (I remember searching "RC Car" images in middle school and finding a naked woman; no there wasn't an RC Car used as a vibrator, just a naked woman ... yeah, I don't know either).

Are most of these people non-religious, like myself (not that I'd do porn), or are there a bunch of religious pornstars that do what they believe to be a tasteful representation of God's gift?

Is it true that they've all been abused at some point, or do some of them just have liberal ideologies and families that are surprisingly ok with it, and figure, "why not?"

Again, as long as it took a more interview-heavy approach, and wasn't just saying "OMG, porn!" I'd be all for it.

I'm not going to pretend to be well-versed in the business side of video games, but it's funny how a blog needs to be taken with a grain of salt, and a more official site like IGN with two. lol

This actually sounds really cool. I'm not that close to North Texas where I live, but I do work in Carrolton, so maybe I can visit after I get off one day.

The Year of Metal Gear

Since I was born in the year of the horse, I looked up videogames released in 1990 with the word horse in the title. Guess I'll be playing American Horseshoes and Arlington Horse Racing ... or not.

When I played the original Metal Gear, I got frustrated by those guards' extremely long lines of vision. Probably why they made the cones of sight for them in MGS so comically small on the normal setting. Here's hoping you'll get farther than I did in that game!
