How have they been working out for everyone? Any issues? Any complaints? Any proposed improvements?

I'm currently working on another new feature - well, more resurrection of an old feature that I dropped - so I'd love to tackle improving the current stuff after I'm done if you guys have some suggestions.

So let me know what you think, I'm eager to make things better!

Everything seems to be pretty good although I personally would like email notifications on comments, but its not that big of a deal, and I might add your doing an awesome job with pixlbit and thank you for everything.Laughing

Thank you, sir! Hang tight on the email integration for notifications, that's a planned feature!

The site is very nice, Nick. Thanks for asking. I still don't know why my favorite game list won't show on my profile page tho. How about a forum for the site? I think just a general one to have conversations in would be cool. Or maybe clubs that anyone can join to support a particular game or series? Alright, thanks for listening!

Hmm... do you have the text you're trying to insert readily available? I have a test environment up, so I can try and mess around with it and see if I can figure out what's wrong.

As for forums, we used to have them, but I've since closed them down. I might be able to trot them out again at some point, but I'll need to come up with a cleaner solution. The last implementation had some definite shortcomings and I wasn't happy with how they were working. I just may write my own forums that better attaches to the existing site DB and can be more seamlessly integrated into the other inner workings of the site. I'll put it on the list and see if I eventually get around to dropping them out there.

It seems like the text doesn't pop up anymore when I go to edit my profile page. That's weird! I'll try again and PM you to let you know if it was just a gremlin. Thanks.

If you could program in a sandwich maker, that'd be great. Oh, and make sure it has a bacon button Tongue Out

Otherwise things are good. I like the new message/notification system, though it'd be nice to be able to customize what notifications we get. But that's a small quibble. Great work on the site!

Last time I checked, programming sandwich maker into a site didn't have the best results Wink.

Also, the customization of the message/notification system is already on the list of items to get done! It was going to be a 1.0 feature... but I got lazy decided to just release what I had instead of completing implementation of all planned features.

That link was totaly worth clicking.

Okay fine, we can forgo the sandwich maker then lol. And sounds like you have a good list of things already, though I like the idea in one of the lower comments about a blog hit counter. 1UP had a nice one of those.

Rather new here..At the moment I do not see anything wrong with this place..Everything is running smooth so far..

I'd like a way to delete all messages at once or mark them as read if you're not working on it. That would be awesome

Thanks for the feedback - this one is definitely on the list as well. It's really annoying having to delete all of those messages manually. It's driving me nuts too :)

Now that I think about it..Can you implement something like a hit counter of sorts, would like to know how many people glace at my blog?? Can that be done??

I think this is something I can do - I'll add it to the list.

Everything seems to be working fine for me, though sometimes I want to reply to a comment but I can't despite clicking on reply. Not sure if it's on my end or the site, but overall everything is great so far. Though I'd like a forum to talk about stuff, but the only reason I'm saying this is because I want to start the Nintendo related one Cool Can't wait to see the new features!

I think it would be great if I could post links easily on the page where I edit my profile.  But that's not really a priority or anything.  This is a great site.

Rich text edit on the profile pages seems to be something a few people have requested. I'll add this to the list.

Opt out of messages or notifications.    I dont see where I personally need or use the messages/notifications

Nick DiMola Director

Opt out is definitely on the list already. I probably should've launched the system with this feature included, but as always, hindsight is 20/20.

First off thanks for asking for input. It's nice to know that you guys/gals value our opinions. Only think I can think of right now is the same that Greenman said, and what GH said. I'd like having those options, as for everything else, it's running smoothly.

Great work though a mess delete or something like Greenman mentioned would be helpful. Awesome job with the new stuff though.

Could we maybe seperate the emails, comment notifications, and blog notifications? I lose my emails underneath a ton of other stuff, and I check this after 3 days and have 70 messages. It is a touch annoying.

Nick DiMola Director

03/21/2013 at 08:14 AM

Sure, I'll add that to the list.

Everyone has more or less said what I would so far, except sometimes when I go to edit a comment, it double spaces whatever I typed, and I often have trouble when I try to edit my comment more than once; I'll type in a correction, only to see what I typed on my first edit after I hit save. Not sure if that's an anti-troll measure, but I promise, I only do it cause I'm OCD about my grammar and spelling, sometimes. lol Of course, being in a house with old computers, all running no-longer-supported (or soon to be so, anyway) XP, that could very easily be on my end, as could hitting enter to select my user name from a dropdown box causing me to make an accidental log-in attempt.

Both of those are minor complaints for me though, keep up the great work.

Edit: Let's see how this goes, and I will check what plug-ins I have running, but I don't think I have anything that would interfere; usually the only plug-in I screw with is Flash.

Nick DiMola Director

03/21/2013 at 09:35 AM

Hmm, that's a weird error that I have not seen before. Do you have any sort of NoScript-like plug-in running? If you change your text and hit save, it should show the new text flashing. Also, the double space thing in there is a known issue, but it's not representative of the actual text. If you refresh the page, you'll see that the spacing is normal. No idea why it does that and my numerous attempts at fixing it have been unsuccessful.

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/21/2013 at 09:42 AM

Well, it just happened with the comment I typed; I intentionally typed Fla instead of Flash editing it once, and tried to fix it with another edit, which didn't take, but then I hit refresh, and then tried again, and it worked, so I guess that's the trick.

I'll check on my plug-ins just in case, though, thanks!

I really like the new changes. The message sytem allows me to keep track of activities like new blogs and comments. That way I don't just have to go hunting for them. The site is a thing of beauty, and keeps getting better. Great job by all!
