Forgettable Games

Posted on 10/10/2017 at 12:26 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I played Red Faction Armageddon recently 'cause I had it for free from Games with Gold. I didn't finish it because I guess I got kind of bored. It was fun for a while though. You right though, it didn't have much going for it outside the destructible enivironments.

I liked Gone Home. There's not a lot of gameplay to it other than finding things to you need to read to get the whole story of the characters. I call it a character study game. It was very well written, I thought. There were a few things in it that could've been great puzzles to solve, but it didn't seem to let you do anything. Maybe I missed something though. I got a similar feeling from the TellTale games. Sometimes a great story, but nothing much to do in them, which begs the question as to whether they are really games or not.

The game Gone Home creeped me out just a little bit. The way any empty dark house at night during a storm would.

Best Super NES games? What are they?

I always think DK Country and Contra III when I think of SNES. I played those a lot back when the system was out. Later I played some Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, Super Mario RPG and ActRaiser, all great. Now I want to play Parodius, Daffy Duck Marvin Missions, Pirates of Dark Water, Pop'n TwinBee, The Tick, and Uncharted Waters.

DQB has a little more focused objectives.

That hack 'n' slash mechanic is ok, just not my thing really. I mean, I like it in some games, but when it's kind of chaotic and hard to do specific things, unlike in Diablo III, I get kind of annoyed with it. I got a similar feeling with the battle mechanic in Ni No Kuni. It had some tactical aspects, but it was largely a spastic, hard to control, mess.

Yea, I played Builders and got stuck in it. I don't know what I did, but I couldn't build my city right and level up at one point. I couldn't figure it out. I really liked it though, so I'll be all over the sequel when it comes out.

I worked a lot for many years, and I was happy to get away from it for a while, but then I got worried about money. I'm still worried about it. Full time does have its benefits. Security being one.

I remember Road Trip. At least, I remember playing it. I don't remember much else.

I didn't finish the first DQH game either. Something about the real time battles gets old after a while.
