I know what you mean, but it just smacked of shenanigans to me. As for the Wii U I could have sworn Nintendo had the console part of the Wii U sitting there somewhere on stage when they announced it. 

I thought that the absence was a little more conspicuous for the PS4. It screamed vapourware to me. Sort of "We haven't actually put all these components in a box yet but we've gotta draw blood before Microsoft."

Maybe it's just because I've been in the IT business for over 28 years now and I've become extremely jaded. Selling me the sizzle without the steak just doesn't whet my appetite.
