Taito Legends - Space Gun

Posted on 04/11/2014 at 07:18 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Space Gun didn't really stick out in my mind on the collection.  What an uoriginal game name, though.  That's  like naming a game "Shoot Stuff" or "Don't Lose."

Quick Hits: TV Shows, I Saw Man of Steel, and Pickups!

Man of Steel was good, but I couldn't help but notice the blatant product placement.  Especially IHOP.  There was so much IHOP in the movie that you'd think they'd change the story around so that Superman got his powers from eating pancakes!

My favorite part of Superman Returns (the Superman movie before this one), was Lex Luthor's sidekick.  She was awesome and everything that came out of her mouth cracked me up.

Her name is Lulu?  Ha!  Even her name cracks me up!

Yeah I don't know what problems the English version would have as far as emulation.  The music is different, too (better in the English version).

I hope they make an HD remake of FF9!

Yeah you really shouldn't have to constantly read a guide online in order to enjoy a game.

Taito Legends - Plump Pop

Posted on 04/10/2014 at 07:39 PM | Filed Under Blogs

Yeah this is just a cutesy Arkanoid.  But I like Arkanoid better, strangely enough.  I know I've told you this already, but get the DS version.

Plump Pop makes me think of two other Taito games that are kind of similar to this.  The first is Pop N Pop.  It plays more like Space Invaders meets Puzzle Bobble, but a lot of classic Taito characters appear in it.  A company made a Game Boy Color version of Pop N Pop but replaced the characters with Yogi Bear and friends.  Yuck.

The other Taito game that's kind of like Plump Pop is called Puchi Carat.  It came out in the mid to late 90's and is like a cross between Breakout and Puzzle Bobble.  One of the characters in it is the same cute girl from Cleopatra Fortune.  I'm not sure if Pop N Pop is on a Taito collection, but I'm pretty sure Puchi Carat is.

Amazing VG Themes: Villain Themes

Posted on 04/10/2014 at 07:33 PM | Filed Under Blogs

When I first saw the title of this blog, I thought to myself, "I sure do hope he put Kefka's theme in here."  Glad to see it make the cut.  Cool thing about Kefka's theme is that when you fight him at the end of the game, the last segment of the Dancing Mad song changes to a intense rock version of Kefka's melody.

I think it's also cool that you did NOT put "One Winged Angel" on your list.  As cool as it was to hear that the first time you faced Sephiroth's final form in FF7, the song has gotten way overrated since then.

I think it's cool that you also put King Dedede's theme in here.  I loved how they added a lick from Gourmet Race into his theme first in Super Star, and it has permenently stuck in his theme ever since.

Another favorite villian theme of mine is Dr. Wily's stage 1 theme from Mega Man 2.

Damn, I forgot the witty title I was going to use.

Happy birthday!  Have a power pellet!

Taito Legends - Operation Thunderbolt

Posted on 04/09/2014 at 07:16 PM | Filed Under Blogs

I saw Operation Wolf in nearly every arcade I went to back in the day.  Operation Thunderbolt, not so much.  My favorite light gun game series is Namco's Point Blank games.

I liked Mega Man's Final Smash move.
