Nintendo Posts First Loss in More Than 30 Years

3DS sales have improved, painting a better picture for the future.

With Nintendo's fiscal year now coming to an end, the losses the company expected in late 2011 have been posted. This marks the first time the company has ever posted a loss since publicly reporting in 1981. The fiscal year, which ended on March 31, saw Nintendo drop 36% in revenue from the previous year due to weaker hardware and software sales, which resulted in a loss of 37.3 billion yen ($458 Million USD).

Nintendo Announces New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS, Kirby Anniversary Collection for Wii

New 3DS updates are also on the way.

Today, Nintendo revealed plans to release the third New Super Mario Bros. title, New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS. The game will feature Mario, Luigi, and a slew of recognizable characters with the same side-scrolling gameplay suitable for players of all ages. The title is due for release this August, but no specific date has been revealed.

The World Ends With You Sequel Rumored

Neku may be making a return.

Back in 2008, Square Enix released The World Ends With You, an action role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. It was an instant success with critics and fans alike and has since gained a cult status. Fans have been clamoring for a sequel ever since, and it seems like now their requests may be answered. Recent comments from the series co-creator, Tetsuya Nomura, suggest that something may indeed be in the works.

Nintendo Showing New Pikmin Game at E3

The title Miyamoto excitedly revealed years ago during a round table will finally be seen by the public.

Yesterday, we reported that Nintendo would be showing off a new Mario title for its soon-to-be-released Wii U console at E3. However, it appears that Shigeru Miyamoto also let slip that a Pikmin game would be at E3 in the same interview with Spanish newspaper, El Mundo. Nintendo Registers Super Mario 4 Domain

It's not an official announcement by any means, but there's a possibility that a proper sequel to the NES classic is in the works.

Less than 3 months ago, Nintendo revealed that they were planning to produce a new 2D Mario game for the fledgling 3DS system. Today, it was discovered that Nintendo registered the domain supermario4.com, which is currently redirecting to Nintendo of America's home page. It's currently unknown if the two are linked in any way or if Super Mario 4 is an actual property Nintendo plans on developing.

Capcom, Sega, and Namco Bandai Team Up

A crazy new strategy-RPG is in the works. Can you say "crossover"?

For a whole legion of fanboys and girls, the fact that the Capcom and Namco team-up strategy game Namco x Capcom never made it to North America was a tragedy. Even though the game was reportedly average at best, the idea of two major Japanese companies mashing all of their franchises into a massive strategy-RPG was a tantalizing thought. Well, those fanboys and girls may have another shot at the crossover insanity, with an extra company thrown into the mix. Enter Project X Zone (the “x” is pronounced “cross” as before), a new strategy-RPG featuring characters from Capcom, Namco Bandai, and Sega. Before your head explodes, consider reading on.

Rayman Origins For The 3DS Delayed To June

3DS owners will have to wait three more months for their Rayman fix.

Ubisoft confirmed today that the 3DS version of Rayman Origins has been delayed to June. A reason for the delay was not provided. The title was originally slated to be released on March 20.

A recent trailer for Etrian Odyssey IV reveals that big changes are in store for the series. The trailer, which appeared several days ago, shows recognizable and visible enemies while exploring a dungeon.  Additionally, these enemies patrol and lunge in a realistic manner.
