Key Titles Missing From PSP/Vita Transfer Program

Mega publishers not on board with transfer program just yet.

Sony’s new PlayStation Vita won’t be supporting the PSP’s UMD format which has made backward’s compatibility a bit of an issue for the handheld.  The proposed solution to this sticky issue was to charge gamers a reduced price to download digital copies of their PSP collection – a solution that has only been announced for Japan.  Whether or not this is particularly savvy business practice is debatable, but what is sure to spark even further controversy is the absence of some major titles from the transfer program.

Vita to Possibly Support Multiple Tiered Pricing

Sony takes a long hard look at the mobile market and comes to the conclusion that change is necessary.

This is particularly true in the handheld sector, which is arguably starting to feel the sting of the free and $5 game apps that are muscling into territory long unchallenged.

UPDATE: PSN Firmware Update 4.00 Available Now

The patch paves the way for the beginning of the age of Vita.

With the impending launch of the PlayStation Vita in Japan this December and the European and North American launch coming shortly after this upcoming February, Sony has begun to make preparations to ensure that the PSP successor is well supported right out the gate.  Along with an ever growing list of launch titles, Sony will be releasing a new PS3 system software update (version 4.00 for those keeping score at home) to accommodate the handheld's cross platform and content management capabilities.

It wouldn’t be a Sony system launch without a Ridge Racer game, and the PS Vita will be no different. The Namco Bandai racing series is a staple for the PlayStation brand, but the Ridge Racer game that’s launching with the Vita has a couple odd caveats that accompany it.

Vita's Ninja Gaiden Dated in Japan

Release window may hint at North American release date.

We’ve long known that Team Ninja was bringing Ryu Hayabusa to the PlayStation Vita via a port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, but up until now we had no idea when that was actually happening.  Now some of the mystery has been removed thanks to the latest issue of Famitsu.

PSone Classics Won't Work With Vita at Launch

PS2 games won't work either at first.

It was unclear if the PlayStation Vita would be compatible with PSone Classics purchases on your PlayStation account, though it was assumed it would be possible given the fact that it would share the same account.Today, the truth is still shrouded, but it was announced that they won't be compatible at least at launch

MotorStorm RC Races on to PSN and Vita Next Spring

Cross platform play supported.

It’s hard to believe, but the PlayStation Vita’s launch date is a mere three months away as of today.  For a while we didn’t hear much about what games are going to be available at launch, but lately it seems the announcements and stories just keep pouring in.  Today’s new game announcement comes courtesy of Paul Rustchynsky, Game Director at Evolution Studios, who proclaimed via the Official PlayStation Blog that MotorStorm RC will be making its way to the Vita and the PSN.
