US Vita Launch Line-up Announced

Twenty-five titles available on day one.

This past weekend the PlayStation Vita launched in Japan and did rather well.  With the initial launch of the system now behind us, it’s time to start looking forward to the day when the rest of the world will be able to purchase Sony’s new handheld: February 22, 2012.  Sony had already announced the European launch titles during a Vita event in London a few weeks back and has only just now revealed what the US can expect on store shelves come launch day.

Amazon Lists Vita Game Price Variance

Seems not all Vita games will be priced equally.

It has been long suggested that having a standard pricing system for video games wouldn’t work as the industry grew, particularly with the emergence of cheap iOS and mobile games.  Sony has been toying around with discounted prices for digital versions of Vita software in Japan and possibly the US, but a look over at Amazon.com reveals that they may be mixing it up with physical copy pricing as well.

Sony's new handheld doesn't stumble out the door.

Sony Backtracks - Vita Limited to Single PSN Account

Users will have to reset to factory presets in order to use another account.

We originally reported that the Vita would be limited to a single PSN account.  Then we were told that the accounts would be tied to memory cards and not the system itself, which would allow easy account swapping between systems.  Now Sony is going back to their original story, telling us that the account is indeed attached to the Vita itself.

First Vita Clone Hits the Streets

Attack of the poorly made clones!

The Sony PlayStation Vita hasn’t even been released in its home country of Japan, yet it already has clones popping up in China.  The Yinlips YDPG18 is the latest in a long line Sony handheld knockoffs to be produced in China.  The device is powered by Android and sports a 5-inch touchscreen display with a 800 x 480 resolution (which differs greatly from the Vita’s 5-inch OLED 960 x 544 display), a single analog nub, front and back cameras and is notably missing some version of the Vita’s rear touch panel.

Kojima Would Like to Make Zone of the Enders 3

Kojima Productions is understaffed and working on other projects right now, but it's something he has in mind.

Hideo Kojima is a legend in game design, but he’s had a hard time getting away from his most successful franchise, Metal Gear. Since 1987, Kojima has done almost exclusively games that center around the adventures of his beloved character Snake (in various incarnations) and, even though he’s tried to pass the series on to the next generation of Konami designers, he keeps getting pulled back. But that’s not to say that Kojima hasn’t been about to branch out a bit over the years. You may remember his portable game Boktai, which had a direct sequel and a DS follow-up called Lunar Knights. No? Well, you certainly remember Zone of the Enders. You know…the game that was included free with the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo? Despite having that moniker for years, ZoE has its share of dedicated fans, and they will be happy to hear that the series isn’t far from Kojima’s thoughts.

Vita Not Limited to a Single Account After All

Seems rumors of the Vita's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

We reported earlier this week that the Vita would be limited to a single PSN account per system and would require a factory reset to swap to another account.  Turns out that isn’t entirely accurate. Sony has stepped forward and clarified that the PSN accounts are bonded to the memory stick and not to the system itself.

Katamari Vita Lets You Unlock DLC Through Gameplay

Or, for the lazy gamer, pay your way to new content.

The subject of DLC has been an issue of much debate as of late, especially when it comes to the PS Vita and the way games and extra content are priced. We’ve already seen a rather confusing pricing structure for Ridge Racer, and now we’ve got information on a more generous route that Namco Bandai is taking with its popular Katamari series.

Vita Limited to Single PSN Account

Bad news for those looking to share.

There's been a wave of not so good news concerning the Vita these past few weeks.  With the announcement of expensive memory sticks and a UMD Passport launch lineup that is somewhat lacking the Vita is in a position where it could use some good news.  Now isn't that time though, as we have no found that the Vita will severly limit your PSN account flexibility.
