The Lament of Mecha-Hitler

I've been playing Zelda of course, and have been very impressed with it.  It's kind of the Zelda game you imagined you played, but it's real. I'm not very far in it, been doing little quests, but I have opened my first "memory" and am moving on from there. Mostly I'm exploring the world slowly and building myself up. It's actually a very neat game.

I haven't watched the latest Twin Peaks  but I've been very impressed with it this year. I feel like the whole Dougie Jones storyline is like a glimpse of the paradise Cooper would attain in domestic bliss if he wasn't a hero fighting evil. Kinda sad.

I saw Dunkirk. I'm a huge Nolan fan so I loved it, I know some people don't like the disjointedness with the nonlinear time in it, but I personally really liked it.

I guess that's it for summer movies this year? I dunno.

I think it's pretty funny that David Lynch replaced Cooper with himself, sort of. And Cooper is like evil shit bag now. The last episode was the funniest. Some scenes at the diner and the mobsters are pretty hilarous. It's the most normal episode so far, but everything is coming together it seems.

I'll eventually play zelda some day. I'm pretty busy w/ Mario 3D World and Bayonetta, as well as Monster Hunter 4 and FFxiv.

i love that intro of evil cooper in episode one with that slowed down rock song. So creepy.

I gotta get back in FFXIV

Isn't that just how it goes? One day, you play the game you imagined in your head that you thought was impossible?

it seems to happen more often now. Man, looking at this blog title makes me want to write a novel entitled that. :)

Hitler just makes me cringe. How about The Lament of Mecha-Trump.

well, he makes me cringe too, but I kind of imagine the story taking place in a sci fi future where hitler has been cloned and cyborged by the nazis and the story that comes out of that. kind of tickles my imagination.

This is me reading about you getting a Switch and playing Breath of the Wild.

I've seen a lot of games in my head that I've always wanted. Zelda is one of the few series that eventually matches the vision of the games I dream of. Ever since I played the NES game I always wanted to get lost in a giant virtual world of Octoroks, Lynels, and Ganon.

I have to tell you man, this Zelda game is the pinnacle. It might be missing some things tha people take for granted in the series, but it has so much going for it I am just shocked by it.  You'll love it, I know it.

I still need to see Atomic Blonde and War for the Planet of the Apes.

Dunkirk was good, but I wish it spent more time fleshing out its characters, or just stuck with the people on the boat more often. It was great filmmaking, but I just couldn't attach myself to anything emotionally beyond a very basic, "I'm rooting for them to complete the rescue mission."

I liked it. I think a movie like that could get very bloated very quickly, and I was glad it was short and to the point. I knew the history, but it was still harrowing, and beautiful in the end.

Hey when do u go back to professor mode?

I go back to Nac and at least some office cleaning next week. Professoring starts 28th, officially.

Most likely I will watch Twin Peaks when Showtime has a marathon and I'll just binge watch the entire series. It just didn't grab me when the episodes were aired.

it's definitely not to everyone's taste. It was kind of a big deal in my formative years though, so it's nice to come back to it.

I liked the movie, Fire Come Walk With Me, but I never really watched the original show. Hopefully if I catch a marathon I can at least get into the plot. That's how I got into the True Detective series.

I think the original series streams on Netflix, but I could be wrong.
