Beat Mario

Well, I beat Mario. It was very enjoyable. I loved exploring Mario Worlds again, and the game is very very clever. That said, I don't have a lot of memories of the game, it's like it was consumed and that was it, leaving nothing. I liken it to eating something very sugary that's very enjoyable but afterwards you're still hungry. It's a great game - but it doesn't quite have the magic of Mario 64, even though it DOES have magic. I loved playing mario levels that weren't corridors, and it felt really fun to peak around corners and explore and find stuff.  Sometimes I think though they should take all the cute characters and tell heartfelt stories and make them feel like real beings the way they do in Zelda games. I think if there were more heart, it would be more memorable. But I did love it, and am glad I beat it cause the ending is good and there's some nice surprises when you're done.

I'm called myself a serial "unfinisher" of games, as I beat very few games. It's almost a disease. I like to say they haven't made a game I can't unfinish. But I'd like to start finishing games again, cause it really puts closure on it, and it give you the full experience of the game.

Now I'm excited for Skyrim to come out. I'm also gonna buy the Telltale Batman game for Switch, and Rocket LEague when it comes out. Doom and LA NOIRE can wait.

I've played Skyrim before, but not finished it, and I'm looking forward to exploring it on a handheld while I chill. Very happy about this.

I also played a couple hours of Stellaris on the weekend. I love that game.

Anyway, hope all of you are well!

Skyrim is probably one of the best games ever. Still, all these new versions are getting a little old. I really want a Morrowind Remaster. I'd say Oblivion too, but the XBox One X version is enhanced and I'd consider that one.

I just heard about that enhancement. Very excited.

that sounds pretty cool about Oblivion.

Congrats on finishing Mario! I lingered in the not finishing games mode for a bit, I'm not at the point where I finish everything but I have finished a couple this year.

I'm interested to read what people think about Skyrim on the Switch. I have it for the PC and at some point I'd like to jump in and play the dang thing (and maybe try out some crazy mods) but I want to hear what fans of the game say about the Switch version.

the mods on PS4 and Xbox aren't too bad. Some of them make the game look so nice.

Good job beating Mario.  It took me less than a week to beat it, and while I had some fun with the post-game content, that quickly wore off so to me, Mario Odyssey is a fun, yet overhyped game that won't win any Game of the Year awards from me this year.

I liked it a lot. But Mario games lately, like I said, don't seem to have any lasting affect on me. It's a sort of empty joy.

Don't beat Mario. Poor guy. What has he done to you?

The Unfinisher sounds like a cop thriller. A cop who get his man, and then. . . let's him go at the last minute. Probalby has a one liner too like, "Guess it's your lucky day. I don't arrest on Saturdays."

Stellaris looks sweet!

I really like Stellaris. I used to love simulation and strategy games when I was in my 20s.  Want to get back into them.

I'm at 200 power moons now and I just arrived at the Ruined Kingdom. Usually I burn out on platformers because I'm bad at the harder levels and areas but Odyssey is different. There are some areas I can't complete for the life of me but there are so many others that it keeps me coming back.

I get about 10 power moons during my daily visits and find 3 or 4 areas where I end up saying screw this and giving up. :)

you're getting pretty close! The ending is worth experiencing, I'll tell you that!

I'm at Bowser's place now. I guess Bowser is coming up next.

Counterintuitively, I think I'd finish more games if I had them on the go.

honestly, portable games are better for me too.

I went ahead and did a few speeruns for myself. I ended up managing 2 hours and 20 minutes, but I died a bunch. I'm hoping I can eliminate mistakes and route better for either 2 hours or under that. It's even more fun to go about a low moon any% run. I was amazed how much you can skip to get to the end.

I used to speedrun Super Mario land versus my friend on our Gameboys back in the day. That's about as far as I've taken the experience though.

yeah anytime I speedrun it's mostly for fun. So for me it was how fast can I beat Odyssey...turns out pretty fast lol. Still, I've done a few like in shovel knight where I want to get that  speedrun achievement to say I got 100%. But I'm not very serious with it. I'm not submitting runs or anything. Too much work to know specific frames, tricks, glitches, etc.
