I’m Trying Real Hard, Ringo

I got Smash Ultimate for Christmas and I’d like to say I’m really loving it and it’s absolutely great... but I just don’t feel that way. I’m not into it. I’ve played some of it, and I know Nintendo put a hell of a lot of good shit into it, but I just don’t get excited to play it. I think the thing is, I remember playing the original Smash with my friends, and I don’t really have anybody here to play locally with. That’s when Smash is at its best. I’m gonna play some more and try again, but mostly I’m just like meh.

I also got Spider-Man for the PS4 for xmas, but I might hold off on that until I go back to Red Dead. I didn’t play many games in December cause of the holiday and my brother was visiting. He played Wolf Among Us (amazing game) and a lot of Witcher 3 here which he really liked. He headed back to Maryland this morning which is a little sad. My copy of Witcher is digital, so as a late present, I bought him a copy of the GOTY edition of Witcher 3 and sent it to him. He should get it in a few days.

I’m sad the holidays are over, because I do love them, but I’m also excited to get back to work writing and reading. I’m also still losing weight which is good.

Hope you are all well!

Smash Ultimate didn't win my GOTY award because at heart, it's basically just a port of the Wii U version.  Granted it's a GREATLY ENHANCED port and would be number two on my GOTY list.  Try Adventure Mode, though.  I'm surprised how big it is!

It IS a huge game. I might change my mind about it still.

Smash definitely best with others but unlocking characters really does it for me. I love that stuff.

Someone recently complained about having to unlock all the characters and I was like, "that's the whole reason I used to play single-player in fighting games ... would you prefer to pay for them? I wouldn't."

Yeah that part is fun. I like the single player mode, it just doesn’t dazzle me.

I haven't even tried the Spirits mode yet lol

Yeah, I definitely remember Smash for local multiplayer more than most games. Glad you're losing weight though. I'm on a regimen, myself.

It’s tough man. Tough to stay the course. But I’m working on it.

Yeah you need friends to play Smash with, then you go and play against strangers after a while.  GAme looks fun though.

It is pretty fun. But it would be more fun with Local friends.

To me it sounds like the game is fun because of the memories it triggers, and I get that. I think we all have those games.

It's cool that you got your bro his own copy of Witcher, especially if he enjoyed it at your house.

I may rent the Xbox version of Red Dead and play it again next week. I just want to see explore the environment on a horse. See 1899, or what Rockstar thought about it.
