The Thousand Year Door is a game I never got very far into, but I watched my friend play when I was living in New York, and the game always filled me with wonder. It's a turn based RPG with a large world to explore, and hilarious dialogue by the characters. The battle system is fun, as it takes place in front of an audience that applauds when you do well or throws stuff at you when you don't.

I've played a few Mario RPG's, but this one has always been my favorite. The music is great, the graphics are adorable, and the story is actually pretty interesting and fantastic.

I really wish Nintendo would re-release this on a new system so I could play it again. It was a gamecube game, so it's a bit old now.

If you have a chance to play, I definitely recommend it.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is definitely the best Mario RPG out there, and it's also one of the best RPGs on the GameCube period.  It's a shame that future Paper Mario titles were not near as good.

I played most of it but didn't finish it. It's an absolute gem. I loved every second of it. So creative and joyful. It's one the main reasons I still have a Gamecube. It really should be rereleased.
