Lifeforce, for the Nintendo Entertainment System, was a game I played over and over with my younger brother when I was a kid. I loved it - the whole idea of it, the music, the gameplay, everything. You're tasked with flying your little ship into a living alien planet... and destroying it. I loved that idea, and parts of it feel like you're really inside an organism, fighting antibodies and stuff.

Lifeforce was a Konami game, and of course, depended on the use of the Konami Code. I could still probably do it on a NES controller without thinking to this day. You definitely needed those 30 lives, and I can't imagine someone beating it without them, but I'm sure someone has.

The NES provided me with years of joy, and I still remember opening it Xmas day. I got the edition with ROB the robot and Duck Hunt. I'll never forget it.

Over the years it ruled, I played game after game, some good, some not so good. Lifeforce was great.

I got an Atari one Christmas, but I think the NES would've been really special.

I might have tried Lifeforce when I was exploring the NES back in the 90s. I don't know. It's weird, but I never thought of using the Konami code. Now I want to go back and use it.

Yeah man, Life Force is great Gradius companion piece. I rememebr for years thinking it was the official sequel until I saw the actual sequels on the Famicom and MSX.

I don't want 30 lives, I want the ability to restart thirty times ... Oh, we were discussing video games.

I enjoyed this one any time my friend rented it and we'd play it.  It's a nice Gradius spinoff.  I played it in the arcade once.  In Japan it's known as Salamander, and when they brought it to the US they called it Life Force and added more organic stuff to it.  Konami liked it so much they re-released it in Japan as Life Force and added even MORE organic stuff to it.  Have you ever seen the sequel, Salamander 2?  I love the first level.  You think you're fighting that eyeball brain with arms again, and then a giant worm pops out and eats it and you have to fight that!

I think you've told me about Salamander before. I'd love to play Salamander 2, it sounds cool.
