Doh! - The Simpsons Hit and Run

As we all know, licensed games often run the gamut between bad and atrocious. But some are pretty good. The Simpsons: Hit and Run is a game that's pretty enjoyable, and with the cast of the show doing the voices, pretty funny too.

I had this for the original Xbox. It's basically The Simpsons meets Grand Theft Auto, but of course less violent and less free. You'll do a variety of missions as you explore Springfield and save it from extraterrestrial invasion.

The control of the cars is a little floaty, and the limited platforming isn't very precise. But the true joy here is just being in Springfield and hearing all the jokes.

I never finished this, but I got pretty far. I think I got stuck on some mission that involved jumping the car in some insane way.

You start the game as Homer, but of course you get to play as the whole family eventually, including Maggie I think.

A nice game if you get to try it!

I loved that game. I may still have it somewhere.

I had this game on Gamecube. One of my favorite jokes was the Matlock Expressway in the downtown level. My favorite Simpsons game is still the Konami arcade game which had that Klasky-Csupo first-season aesthetic.

I got far on this one, but I never beat it either.  For some reason, I liked Simpsons Road Rage better.  Not sure why, but I did.

I don't think I ever played that!

Simpsons Road Rage is just like Crazy Taxi.  So much so that SEGA sued, but I think they settled it out of court.  But even if it was a ripoff, it was fun and I liked it.

Seems like Crazy Taxi which I tried a while back and liked. I'll try this when I can play it on a modern console.
