I played a few hours of 2033 and really liked it. I'd like to get back to it. Exodus looks great too. All the Metro games are easily found on Xbox One. I think they are, or were, on Game Pass as well. I want to read those books too.

Metro 2033 is a first person shooter and survival horror game published by THQ for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows in 2010. It has since been remastered and ported to practically everything, including Mac computers, the Switch, and Linux. The story is inspired by a novel by the Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky by the same name, and is about humans living in the subway tunnels under Moscow after a nuclear disaster. While highly praised for its unique setting and story when it was released, critics did note its graphical problems and questionable artificial intelligence.
I've only played a little bit of this game. I'm not so crazy about first person shooters anymore, but I was still really impressed, and I'm glad the game has inspired two sequels, Metro: Last Light, and Metro Exodus (one of the first PC games using ray tracing). But what really impressed me about this game wasn't the action or gameplay, but the atmosphere, especially during downtime in the human enclave where you can eavesdrop on conversations and just soak in the ambiance. It's just really interesting in how it shows humans living their daily lives and still displaying hopes and dreams and a sense of humor in such despairing circumstances. If someone released a Bioware type game in this kind of setting where you could converse with characters, I would buy it.
I'd like to give it another shot, and considering its been remastered since my playing the original PC version, I'm sure they've rubbed down some of the rough edges I encountered. I've heard the other two games are really good too.
