To make a long story short, my older son got his shit wrecked by our treadmill today. Apparently he knows how to turn the thing on, and after doing so today, he fell on it and got caught at the back end of it between it and the wall. He's got some pretty nasty burns from the thing going just a little over 1mph and a few spots where it totally rubbed his skin off and he has an open cut.

Thankfully, he's largely ok, but he gave Chessa quite the scare when it happened. In a matter of about 10 seconds, the damage was done to him, which is pretty terrifying. I can't even imagine what would've happened if she weren't around to rescue him. Needless to say, we're going to move the treadmill away from the wall and take the safety key away when we're not using it. Should sufficiently ensure he doesn't do something stupid and mess with it again (he would).

Anyway, that's all I've got for today. Since I'm currently playing and completely in love with Retro City Rampage DX on the 3DS, I made a thread about it:

Retro City Rampage (DX) - Gaming Parody at its Finest

Also, be sure to let me know your thoughts on Live Chatting via the forum thread (or these comments). I've got some other projects lined up in the meantime, but if it's something you guys want, I'll get it into the schedule.

See you all on the flipside!

I'm glad your son's ok, that's scary for a parent, as you said. Forgot to mention in my blog a guy fell of the treadmill next to mine in the gym after he stopped it. To be fair, he was going pretty fast, and I didn't laugh, cause he was a bigger guy, but I wanted to. lol

I see that Retro City Rampage is on Steam. I'll add it to my wishlist. Wasn't expecting the Epic Meal Time bit in the trailer I just watched ..the fake cereal commercial that just auto-played is great.

As for thoughts, I have noticed that when I got to my blog drafts, there are about a billion dummy entries that say "[DRAFT]." Honestly, this is something I don't care much about from a purely personal perspective, since I copy my blogs before posting or have them in a Word doc, but I wonder if all those dummy drafts are the symptom or cause of some other problem? Anyway, to the forums I go.

People falling on treadmills is a cornerstone of the long-running Biggest Loser series. Always hilarious, and they always try to make it seem dramatic.

Glad your son is OK, Nick! Kind of scary!

I second that comment!  HA haaa haaa!  God...I love watrching those parts of the Biggest Loser.

Someone should do a mashup of people fall off treadmilla on that show and post it on YouTube.

Interesting side note, my dad met one of the people who was on The Biggest Loser when he was delivering medical supplies during Hurricane ... Ida? Anyway, no idea if that guy fell off treadmill. lol

The [DRAFT] things are the result of clicking "Post New Blog" and never doing anything with it. Every time you click that, it makes one of those. That's intended behavior, though I should write something that reaps those phantoms when you abandon them.

Good lord. Physically he will recover (burns and cuts you get them all your life), and if by what you say ("ensure he doesn't do something stupid and mess with it again (he would)") then I'm sure he's already mentally stabilized.

Ironically there's a treadmill ad banner on your blog post.  LOL.

Glad that nothing worse happened to your son. We always used to keep the safety key in a drawer and only took it out when we were about to use the thing. That way none of our cats could accidentally hurt themselves. LOL.

Our kids were old enough a that point that they wouldn't succumb to curiosity.

No problem now since our treadmill is in the basement and there is nowhere to plug it in. That's safety feature number 2. :)

Good to hear your boy is ok. That's some scary stuff right there.

I played some of Retro City on the Vita, and I did like some of the references.

and that's why I don't own a treadmill. I'd probably do that to myself and i'm over 30! Plus running on a treadmill feels too much like the journey of life: You keep running and running yet you feel like your still in one place, not going anywhere.

I need to try that game on PSN. Just never feel in the mood sadly.
