Hello, Pixlbit! It’s Sunday morning here, chill day, and I typically don’t do any creative work on this day of the week. Not for religious reasons of course, but just because. Instead I think I’m gonna play a bunch of video games, and maybe watch a movie during the day with my mom.
I haven’t worked on Sisters of the Meat for a while, but I’ll get back to it. I’ve been writing though, and writing is my #1 priority, so that’s good. I had writer’s block for a very long time, but lately I’ve been able to write a little bit here and there, and it is adding up. I’ve finished the first twenty pages of Volume 3 of “To Brave the Crumbling Sky” and now I’m off to start chapter one tomorrow/tonight.
Last week I ordered this vinyl version of Puccini’s “Tosca” opera off Amazon that was from the 1970’s but was still sealed, and boy am I happy I did. I got it yesterday and listened to it, and it sounds freaking great. Tosca is my favorite opera, and on vinyl it sounds so alive. I’m really happy with this.
Meanwhile I have been playing games. Besides FFX, I’ve been playing Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and yesterday I started playing Vlambeer’s “Luftrausers”, a shooter that’s sort of a shmup but also sort of not.
FFX has been going great. I love this game. It’s really relaxing to play, and I love the world and characters. I finished off the Djose temple, and then rode the shoopuf and am now at Guadosalam. The plot is thickening, and the adventure is getting strange.
As far as Mario & Luigi goes, I think I’m about halfway to 2/3 of the way through of the game. I’m playing this to review, and I’ve been pretty diligent about it. It’s a lot of fun, and I’m really gotten into the swing of the combat and the puzzles, and I really enjoy the music and the humor. I’d like to play more of these games now, including Inside Story, Partners in Time, and the new one, on the 3DS. They are a lot of fun.
Finally I’m playing Luftrausers, which I’m also going to review. At first I didn’t get this game, but the more I play it the more I like it. It’s a lot of fun. But I’ll save what I have to say about it for the review.
I also have a review coming next week for the iPad’s “Monument Valley” which I cannot recommend enough for fans of puzzle games and Journey. It’s a great game, but short. Stay tuned for the review.
Anyway, that’s basically it. Went to the library yesterday and took some classical CDs out to listen to/rip, as well as a book about the opera. I’ve really been into music lately, more than usual.

That is exaclty where I quit the first time I played FFX. I think. There was a boss fight that bugged the crap out of me and was unable to beat him.
Luftrausers is awesome, at the same time most of what Vlambeer puts out is awesome. Ridiculous Fishing was one of my favourite games last year.
yeah some of the boss fights are a little tough for sure. I'm pretty determined to see the game through though. I've beat it before, but I want to again, and I never beat X-2 either.
Yeah Luftrausers is more fun than I expected. Cool game.

I have a Maria Callas one on MP3, and it sounds okay. Wish I had it on CD or something, cause Callas is awesome. THe one I got from Amazon has Pavarotti as the male lead.
Well Snee I really need to get FFX and FFX-2 HD remake I have heard great things and I need to get Dark Souls 2..
have you played a Dark Souls game before?
Yes I beat Dark Souls and started Demon Souls thanks to Chris for helping me in Darksouls but I really want part 2.
I want it to, but can't really commit to that sort of game right now. It seems like a lot of fun though.
Picked up FFX HD yesterday. I decided on physical media even though digital would have cost me 10 bucks less. That way when I'm done with it I'll have something to resell.
I made the mistake of checking it out and that was almost it for me. Then I remembered that I'm so close to the end of ToG F and managed to put FFX back in the case. It wasn't easy though.
yeah I got the physical version too for Vita, which included a download code for X-2. It seems like almost everyone has it now. I'm pretty sure Angelo is doing it for the next Backloggers. It's really a great game, despite its flaws.
I like the visual style of Luftrausers. I'll be reading that review, sir.
yeah the style is very cool. Kind of like a gameboy game, but it looks nicer. It has a cool chiptune soundtrack too. I like it a lot so far.
I finally had to add Luftrausers to my wishlist. I keep hearing good things about it.
And speaking of music. I just got Professor Robert Greenberg's latest Teaching Company lecture series "The 23 Greatest Solo Piano Works" from the library. I'm so excited! I love Greenberg's lectures and have heard every single one - some several times.

That sounds like a good listen. Like you, I've been wanting to supplement my music with some learning about it, which is why I bought a book on opera, and got another one from the library. I love the art, but don't know a ton about it.
Your in for a treat then. You can get Robert Greenberg's series "How to Listen to and Understand Opera" at most libraries. It's very long, covering the whole history of opera, and very awesome. Greenberg is not dry and boring. He weaves lots of different disciplines into the story of opera. It's so engaging. I've listened to it several times and then tried to watch and/or hear every opera mentioned. So great!
If your library doesn have it, have them interlibrary loan it, and get it that way. I search across three counties in my area to get just about anything I want, especially these Teaching Company lectures on DVD or CD. I love it!
Wish my local library had some Classical music, I haven't been around there in years but the last time I did they didn't have much to choose from.
yeah i was disappointed in mine, but they had some stuff.
Mario and Luigi's Super Star saga has been a game that has been on my backlog for a while. I should really get to playing it.
it's really good, and it's on Wii U now!
Now that's more like it. See how fun it is to play those console offerings that what can be found on PC or the tiny little tablet? =D
