GoldenEye 007 Review

Posted on 01/02/2011 at 01:57 AM | Filed Under Review

The multiplayer really swayed me pretty strongly. It's so much better than the single player, it's nearly unbelievable. After spending a few hours playing online, it was clear that the experience, though similar to Call of Duty, differed enough to remain interesting. Given that, the multiplayer mode basically earned all of the stars this game was awarded.

My initial experience with the single player mode really bothered me, mostly because it was so much worse than the original title's single player mode. It completely misses the mark of bringing back the feeling of classic FPS games, and in its attempt to marry that experience to a modern shooter, it ends up a far worse monstrosity than either would be alone.

Alright, grey and white are now available. Let me know if any other colors would be nice.

Alright, User Rating now available. I also added in the ability to mark titles as physical or digital. I'll probably add another chart that compares percent digital to percent physical.

Hey Zap, does that Plain Text Uploader accomplish the same thing you were going for? If so, I think we're done with all of the requests.

If you guys come up with anything else, let me know.

Happy New Year, you can now choose colors. I'll get to the others within the next couple of days.

Alright, just added the ability to delete entries, see notes from the game listing page for other users, and the ability update notes for your own list from the game listing page.

I'll start working on the other two requests pretty soon. I'll also look into allowing people to choose from a list of colors for each of the systems.

Also, if someone wants to compile a list of systems not represented in the system currently, I'll add them all in.

Ah, ok, easy enough. I'll get it done.

Awesome, glad to hear you guys like it.

I'll add user rating for sure and the ability to edit a note and remove a game from the game list. I'll add in the ability to see other people's notes too.

As for your first suggestion, Zap, can you elaborate? I'm not sure I'm following what you're saying.

Super Meat Boy Canned on WiiWare, Retail Release Unlikely

Posted on 12/25/2010 at 06:05 PM | Filed Under News

Hmm, the villain... I'd say nobody, really. Team Meat made the best game they could, and Nintendo has a set of well known rules and regulations in regard to the WiiWare size limitation. Team Meat chose to overstep those boundaries in order to create a better game, and Nintendo did nothing more than enforce their rule set.

Bottom line is that the game is available elsewhere, and mostly anyone will be able to at least play it on their PC. Like I said before, I think it'll release on retail anyway, so it'll be a winning situation for everyone, though Wii owners will likely have to chalk up some extra cash for it whenever that does wind up happening.

Ah ok, totally forgot that the original had some shooter in there. Now that you mention it, I do remember you telling me that.

The control complaints really do make even more sense now. It's a real shame that they didn't switch those up for this release, but maybe they thought it would create some confusion after playing the original. Arguably, anyone who played the original has likely played some shooter, and a regular shooter-style control scheme would've been for the better.
