New Switch Model Coming 2019

Posted on 10/04/2018 at 09:28 AM | Filed Under Blogs

I'll be curious to see more about it. I think we all knew a revision was on the horizon, but what exactly it'll be remains in queston. Will they bolster the hardware as Sony and Microsoft gear up for their next console cycles? Will they sunset the 3DS and make a dedicated Switch handheld that's a single unit?

I think there's a lot of interesting directions they can take, but I hope they don't lose sight of the fact that they're already lagging when it comes to raw power and the next PlayStation/Xbox cycle will almost guarantee that ports of AAA titles won't likely happen.

To throw a few suggestions out there for Stage Select:

1) Viewtiful Joe - I want this series back something fierce. Loved all the releases during the GCN/PS2 era and would love to see it be revisited.

2) Pilotwings - While Resort was great, it was also 7 years ago and that was after waiting for years after 64, which was arguably a better game than Resort.

3) Punch-Out - The Wii game was super amazing, but we need more of that!

Quick Thoughts: Bomb Chicken

I definitely felt the same about the first Velocity. Thought maybe the new stuff would make a difference... not so much. The price is crazy steep too. It's a $20 game that feels like it should be $10 max.

I tend to play a lot of games when doing reviews that strike me the same way. Like right now I'm reviewing Velocity 2x, which I just beat, and MagiCat that I'm a good way into, and neither left much of an impression on me. V2X is a good game for sure... but I feel uninspired by it. Much of it was samey and it was well enough constructed, but just kind of... there. I struggle to write about games like that because I don't even know how I feel about it.

Marvel's Spider-Man Review

Being that Spidey is also my favorite superhero, I expect I'd really enjoy this game. Good Spider-man games are hard to come by and I, like most others, were excited to hear that Insomniac was at the helm for this. It seems like they did a solid job even if it's not perfect. The sandbox part of it is the only offputting facet, but once I'm in the mood for a sandbox game, I'll be sure to grab this.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 Review

I laughed out loud reading this, nice work. This game sounds infuriating. The good old "miss" in games like this just pisses me off. If that happens all the time, I'd sure want to hurl the thing out a window myself.

At some point I'll grab the original on the PC (when it's $5) and finally try this series, but I've always hesitated even when it's on sale to pull the trigger.

If you're prioritizing one, I'd suggest Okami, but I have a deep love for that game and I think there's a lot more to sink your teeth into. That said, both are great and totally worth your time and money.

Starlink is the Star Fox Game We Never Expected

Great write up! I'm getting more and more excited for this game. I love Star Fox and I think this is shaping up extremely well. I plan on reaching out to Ubisoft to see if I can get a review copy for the site and provide a review.

Star Fox has always been a special series for me. I got the original game for my 8th birthday and I've stuck with the series through all of its ups and downs. While I didn't hate Zero like everyone else did, I would've preferred it to be without all the second screen stuff and just more straight forward and simple like the original games.

The Messenger Review

Yes, it definitely does. As a matter of fact, you're about at the point where it's going to start ramping up in difficulty. I found most of my deaths came from the power seal rooms later in the game. You've still got a lot to get through and the game really changes radically after the time portals open.
