Mass Effect 3 Brings More DLC

Return to Omega, packing new weapons, and an unlikely ally.

It’s been a rough year for BioWare, especially the Mass Effect team. After the outcry of fans upset with the outcome of the epic sci-fi/RPG trilogy the team had to postpone planned DLC to work on a new ending. To quell the anger in that time, multiple free multiplayer add ons were released, and the game didn’t see its first true story-based DLC until Leviathan was released in August. It seems like the team is back on track, soldiering on after the departure of the company founders. While it won’t quite make it in time for “N7 Day”, the Omega DLC pack will be available soon, and promises to be the biggest addition to the game so far.

Konami Announces Limited Editions For Zone of the Enders and Metal Gear Rising

Kojipro is all about the bling.

Limited editions of big, triple-A games aren’t very, well, limited these days. There was a time, however, when the idea of a rare, feature-packed special edition for a game was almost unheard of. Konami helped pave the way for these collector’s gems with the Metal Gear Solid Premium Pack (Japan only) way back in 1997. Since then it’s almost expected that huge releases will have some sort of incentive for rabid fans of a franchise, but that’s not stopping Konami from doing up two of their upcoming releases with all the bells and whistles, as they just announced limited editions for both Zone of the Enders HD Collection and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

BioWare Announces Dragon Age 3

Fan feedback has played a major role in this role playing game.

Although Dragon Age 2 saw critical and commercial success, it was hard to deny that it was missing a lot of the magic that Dragon Age: Origins had. BioWare has been very transparent in their desire to take fan feedback to heart, which was most obvious when they changed the controversial ending to Mass Effect 3 earlier this year. The RPG developer has been asking the fans of Dragon Age for input on the series for months now, with the first results being a new approach to party member armor sets. This lead people to speculate that a third Dragon Age was in the works, and today BioWare confirmed that Dragon Age 3: Inquisition is in development.

Lightning Returns in New Final Fantasy XIII Console Game

No, not that other FF XIII game you've been waiting for.

Continuing Square-Enix’s love affair with the character Lightning, a new game has been announced for consoles that focuses on her greatest and final battle.  Lightning’s powers grew beyond those of a normal human during the FF XIII-2 storyline and will continue to expand in this new game titled Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which is set to release in 2013.  It appears that customizing Lightning’s clothing and selecting from a variety of weapons will be a big feature in what might be an action-heavy adventure.  Andriasang provided a liveblog translation of a presentation made at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event in Shibuya where the new game was revealed.
