Sony Reveals "Cross Buy" Initiative

Cross play may have just gotten a bit more relevant.

During today's Gamescom conference in Cologne, Germany, Sony released information about a brand new initiative that will start this fall with the release of its flagship titles. The "Cross Buy" program will allow players who purchase the PlayStation 3 version of a game to also take the same title on the go at no extra cost. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will lead the initiative, netting owners of the PlayStation 3 title a free digital copy for their portable Vita.

Capcom Announces Remember Me

Brand new IP emphasizes the role of memory swapping.

Today at Gamescom 2012, Capcom officially announced a brand new IP set in futuristic Neo Paris, known as Remember Me. The title, which has been announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, will star a female protagonist known as Nilin who is described as a “memory hunter.”

You’ve probably heard of the Ratchet and Clank HD Collection for PlayStation 3 by now. It came out in Europe not too long ago and we knew it was on the way for North America relatively soon. What we didn’t know was the new collection initiative Sony is rolling out with the release of this highly anticipated remaster.

Final Fantasy XIV is a Realm Reborn

2.0 is SO last year.

Despite the rough launch and nearly unanimous negative reviews from the media, Final Fantasy XIV continues. The game had such a rocky start that the company publicly apologized for the state that the game was released in and allowed players to play with no subscription fees for nearly a year. Producer Hiromichi Tanaka stepped down from his position on the game and recently left the company entirely. But just because FF XIV is down should not suggest that it’s out. The much-ballyhooed “2.0” version of the game is now a new subtitle. Final Fantasy XIV is dead. Long live Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Gets Trophy Support

Those long install times will be a thing of the past, as well.

When Metal Gear Solid 4 came out in 2008, it just missed the implementation of trophies to the PlayStation 3. Fans have been clamoring for the game to get trophy support patched in, like Naughty Dog did with the original Uncharted, and at long last MGS 4 is getting the trophy treatment.
